Research Topic: My research will explore unmet healthcare needs among aging Canadians. Given the immense impact of musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions on pain and disability, there is a need to understand the long-term patterns (trajectories) of rehabilitation service utilization among aging Canadians with MSK conditions. Trajectories represent distinct patterns over time, grouping individuals into subgroups based on similar outcomes. As the prevalence and burden of MSK conditions increase and the healthcare system evolves, understanding trajectories is crucial to improve healthcare delivery. Rehabilitation services are essential to alleviating pressure on tertiary care and promoting independence in daily activities for older adults.

  1. Determine the prevalence of rehabilitation service utilization;

  2. Identify long-term trajectories of rehabilitation service utilization;

  3. Investigate baseline personal and environmental characteristics associated with these trajectories.
